The groups enjoyed the exhibition. Although students are not conversational, their response is very well thought when they speak out. One student came up with Cai’s work as “creation from destruction”.
Jane and John came up with the idea to have group or pair conversation among the students for them to come up with something to say instead of asking question to each student.

Eiko, I love the “creation from destruction” comment. I had that discussion with 2nd graders when we were looking at the “Return to Darkness” object. After watching the video, I let the studens “discover” the artwork behind them. They were a bit perplexed because they saw the mandala be destroyed on the video. We came to a conclusion that it was “construction to deconstruction to re-construction” which was a very interesting observation. Close looking allowed them to put the two objects together (Mandala = artwork).
